Ferrymead to the Square

About this ride

• Start at either Waterman Terrace off Ferry Road in Ferrymead or at the corner of St Johns Street and Linwood Avenue
• Take the path at the end of Waterman Terrace
• Cross the small bridge and follow the obvious gravel track across the reserve
• Pick up the sealed path and follow the old stop-bank
• Take the path to the left that goes under the electricity transmission lines
• Join another path that runs along the big open drain beside Linwood Avenue
• Follow this path to the lights at Dyers Road
• Cross Dyers Road using the pedestrian lights
• Follow Linwood Avenue cycle lane
• Just past the St Johns Road traffic lights pick up a short path that takes you on to a quiet service road that runs parallel to Linwood Avenue
• At the end of the service road cross at the Hargood Street lights
• Follow 50 metres and turn left onto a path that takes you onto Linwood Drain path
• Follow Linwood Drain path to Linwood Park
• Follow the path through Linwood Park
• Near the western end the path divides, take the path leading to the right
• 100m along this path turn left and go through the Park gates
• Cross Aldwins Road using the pedestrian crossing
• Follow Marlborough Street (which is opposite and slightly to the right of the park gates)
• Follow Marlborough Street to the end
• Turn right onto Clive Street
• Turn left onto Cashel Street
• Follow Cashel Street and turn right at either Tancred Street or England Street
• Cross Hereford Street
• Turn left onto Worcester Street
• Follow Worcester Street to the Madras Street lights
• Cross Madras Street and join the Worcester Street cycle path at Latimer Square
• Follow the cycle path along Worcester Street to the Square
• Arrive at city centre (the square)
• At the Square choose to turn left onto the paved area outside the hotels, and follow this to cross Colombo Street.
• Alternatively, cross the Square and follow the tram tracks along Worcester Boulevard to Rolleston Avenue to arrive at the Arts Centre or Hagley Park
